A Fashion Icon Is Born

Born out of an entrepreneurial spirit and the vision to see a modern African style on the world stage, Zolution Fashion stands in the local fashion industry as a vibrant brand for the everyday Mzansi woman.

The owner wanted to gain economic independence, while also providing elegant but functional garments for both casual and formal occasions, so she decided to become her own boss by establishing the brand in June 2018.

In 2019 Zolution Fashion collaborated with another company which failed in June 2020. She was then afforded an opportunity to do a Fashion Mentorship Programme through Durban Fashion Fair (DFF), which empowered her as an upcoming fashion designer.

The covid 19 pandemic affected a number of businesses, remaining operational during these times is critical. We then took up an opportunity to supply Vittoria and Co, a local shop based in Waterfall Mall, Hillcrest. This new market boosted our turnover positively. We also continued to supply DFF Emporium in Umlazi Mega City.

The fashion house is committed to its purpose of providing unique and timeless clothing to its clientele by carefully selecting the finest material while controlling the marketing and distribution of its garments.
The fashion house produces a limited number of garments per range so that we remain exclusive and our collection is proudly South Africa. We dress dynamic women in the working class that love unique fashion, sizes range from S – XL, and clients are also afforded opportunity to get tailor made garments. We are also open to and give customers an opportunity to customize their garments.

There’s been a recent upsurge in people who want to become entrepreneurs across South Africa, and although such ambitions are admirable, rarely do people talk about the challenges that small, local businesses face. The challenge of production. A business must be quick and efficient in producing its products, if business owners don’t entirely control the process of production, their output can be hindered. We have made use of directors’ financial contributions and assets to build the business and currently do not benefit from any other funding, and have done their best to ensure finances are efficiently and effectively used for the benefit of the business.

Zolution Fashion House is already working towards producing its own unique fabric, hiring their own employees to source, cut, make and trim their material.

Like many business owners, they aren’t just driven by a wish to make a profit. At the foundation of this brand lies a love for people and the joy of using their imaginations. Their favorite element of their work is selecting the garments; creatively pondering how this or that color or pattern will look on a customer. And when they see their buyers strutting on social media platforms or at an event in confidence, loving the way they look, they know that their work has been done well.

In order to remain recognized in the market, Zolution decided to rebrand and relaunch its business on 27 March 2021. Although the function for the relaunch was private, it was a huge success and gained a lot of momentum on social media. The success of the relaunch influenced the decision that was made to make the fashion show an annual event.
